Nowa Nowa: Embrace the Tranquil Charm of East Gippsland
FUTURE OF NOWA NOWA
Nowa Nowa is a small village in East Gippsland, Victoria.
History, art and nature converge in this small pocket of East Gippsland – the township of Nowa Nowa – which is located on the Princes Highway between Lakes Entrance and Orbost.
Unseen by the traffic that sweeps past, Nowa Nowa sits on a bend of a waterway as it transforms from a freshwater gorge to the far reach of semi tidal Lakes Tyers. Surrounded by forested hills, this is a special place in nature.
Those who pull off the highway discover a quiet stretch of water set about with eucalypts and wattles, that invites those who love to paddle, a quiet fishing spot, or a place to wander the shoreline on foot to find the gorge or wetlands, perhaps unexpectedly passing a few nude sculptures along the way.
More trails thread through the forest – including a rail trail and mountain bike park – while the surrounding hills and forest have endless tracks to explore.
